The terms iconic and classic have been applied to a number of RAF aircraft from the 1950s and 1960s, but the Canberra is without doubt one of the types that most deserves those titles. In service with the RAF from 1951 to 2006 and with over 60 RAF squadrons having used the type in bomber, interdictor, reconnaissance, and target facilities roles there is no doubt that the RAF got their money’s worth out of the Canberra. Add to that the licence build in Australia and the United States, plus use by a number of other operators, and this 1944 design outshines many other British designs.

The Canberra Heritage Trust publishes a newsletter every 2 months; these average 20-26 pages and are written/edited by Ken Delve, with contribution from a wide range of ex-Canberra folks plus enthusiasts. This first ‘Canberra Tales’ compendium includes the stories, photographs and news items from newsletter 1 to 11 (November 2022 to August 2024) .

Sales of this book go to support the work of the Canberra Heritage Trust.  The Canberra Heritage Trust (formed November 2022 and granted charity status in March 2023) is an educational and research facility to record, preserve and educate on the role of the Canberra in Royal Air Force (RAF) service from 1951 to 2006.
