Bomber Command Quarterly
Issue 1: January 2025
Paperback, large format, 188 pages, £12.50
The Bomber Command Quarterly (BCQ) title is based on the Bomber Command Quarterly Review produced from 1942 to the end of war. The Bomber Command Quarterly Review, issued by HQ Bomber Command, was one of the ideas brought in by Air Marshal Harris when he took command of what, to some, was an increasingly costly and failing campaign. The magazine was in part designed to boost morale amongst the Bomber leadership and to stress to other commanders and politicians the valuable, indeed essential, work of the Command.
This new quarterly ‘journal’ will appear in January, April, July, October and will cover a wide range of subjects, primarily dealing with World War Two but also featuring the post-war years of Bomber Command up to its merging into the new Strike Command in 1968.
Some of the features will be extracts from the original Bomber Command Quarterly issues, although generally with some additional commentary. However, most of each issue will be a mix of feature articles and regular ‘columns’. Future issues will have a wider content from ‘guest’ authors, as well as regular features such as ‘Publisher overview’, Associations, and much more. We are also open to ideas as to what should be covered in BCQ. There is no plan to have a news section as BCQ is a quarterly and up-to-date news is best covered by the likes of FlyPast magazine.
Contribute?
The editors would be delighted to hear from anyone with an interest in providing a feature for the BCQ. You may be an established researcher or author, or you may be someone wanting to ‘get into print’ and with a story you would like to share, or simply someone with something to share or discuss.
Raising Money for Charity
The BCQ is produced by the Aviation History Research Centre (AHRC) on behalf of Veterans Central West Raynham SHQ. All profits from the sale of BCQ go to Veterans Central to support the work of the charity.
